insert
this is an example of a insert edit. in a insert edit you add a clip in between two other clips to make the time not change at all. in a insert the other clips which you are putting the clip in will move to the right to make room for the inserted clip. to do this you must bring down a clip from the source panel while holding down the control key and drag it into the timeline causing a insert edit

The difference between an overlay and an insert edit is when you insert you add the video so it doesnt change the video but an overlay when you change the video by adding a overlay to edit some time out. You would use an overlay when_during a race if you were to show the fans, while you’d use an insert edit when you want to show two differnt things happenimg at a time In this case the overlay edit works better because the horse is moving the whole time not stopping at all. by isaiah sanchez reflection
